College of William & Mary Chooses CRM System from TargetX

Sep 22, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- The College of William & Mary announced it is looking for a more efficient and effective way to connect with prospective students, and has decided that a cloud-based CRM system from TargetX is the solution.

According to a release, The College of William & Mary has selected the Student Recruitment Manager, a customer relationship management (CRM) tool developed specifically for college admissions by TargetX, a student-recruiting firm serving higher education.

"The SRM will enhance our ability to communicate with prospects and make it possible to maintain an ongoing conversation," said Tim Wolfe, Senior Associate Dean of Admission at the famed Virginia institution. "We'll be able to build stronger connections between prospective students and the college." The CRM tool will serve as the foundation for an integrated communications strategy the school is putting into place, said Betsy Dolan Quinzio, Senior Assistant Dean of Admission. "This will make it possible to keep track of all our communications," she said, "and to ensure that we are sending students only the most relevant communications." Among the strengths of the SRM are its built-in electronic communication tools, including the email broadcasting and online chat tools in higher education marketing. And it is also fully integrated with a powerful event manager, which was especially attractive to W&M, according to Quinzio. "We already have an event tool," she said, "but it is labor intensive to move data in and out, and is not particularly robust." According to a release, the Student Recruitment Manager is a CRM system that helps colleges manage, integrate and automate the process of student recruitment from the point of contact through enrollment. In 2008, TargetX built the SRM on the Force.com platform of Salesforce.com, a company focused on on-demand customer relationship management and cloud computing.

The Company noted that being able to access their new CRM system anytime and from anywhere is a wonderful bonus, said Wolfe, but it was not the cloud that drew W&M to the SRM. The college has a long and rewarding relationship with TargetX, having used its eXpress email broadcasting tool over the past 10 years. "We knew from the experience we've had with TargetX that the quality of the technology and customer support would be just what we needed," he said.

The College of William & Mary has more than 30 undergraduate programs and 10 graduate programs and professional degree programs.

TargetX blends technology with an approach to consulting so that schools can build relationships and increase yield.
