Verizon to launch Pantech Breakout smartphone on 22 September 2011


Sep 20, 2011 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- US wireless communications service provider Verizon Wireless and Pantech, a Korean mobile handset maker, announced on Monday the exclusive availability of the Pantech Breakout smartphone in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at www.verizonwireless.com, beginning 22 September 2011.



The Pantech Breakout smartphone, brought to market by Personal Communications Devices LLC (PCD), will provide customers access to custom Pantech widgets and also allow them to share media files between Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-enabled devices by using the Net Media app on the Pantech Breakout.

The Pantech Breakout, powered by 4G LTE, features Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, 1 GHz processor, a 4-inch capacitive touch display (480 x 800), support for Google Mobile Services including access to over 250,000 apps available to download from Android Market, 4G LTE mobile hotspot supporting up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices, virtual QWERTY keyboard featuring SWYPE technology, a 5-megapixel autofocus rear-facing camera with HD video, VGA front-facing camera, Wi-Fi connectivity 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 support and an 8 GB pre-installed microSD.


The Pantech Breakout will be available on 22 September 2011 in Verizon Wireless Communication Stores and online at www.verizonwireless.com for USD99.99 after a USD50 mail in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ)(Nasdaq:VZ)and Vodafone (LSE:VOD)(Nasdaq:VOD).
