UP Close with OSU's Tracy MooreSep 14, 2011 (Tulsa World - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Position: Wide receiver Class: Junior Height-weight: 6-1, 233 Hometown: Tulsa A former Tulsa World Metro Player of the Year, Moore was a member of Union's state championship team in 2008. His father (also named Tracy Moore) played basketball at the University of Tulsa. Before signing with Oklahoma State in February 2009, the younger Moore was more aggressively recruited by TU than by any other school. On Saturday, he and the eighth-ranked Cowboys face TU at H.A. Chapman Stadium. While at Union, Moore played three games at the TU stadium. Bill Blankenship was Union's head coach until your sophomore year in high school. As a TU assistant, he recruited you. Now, he is the Golden Hurricane head coach. I've known coach Blankenship since I was 8 years old. I remember going over to his house. We were cool. Pretty close. During recruiting, was TU a legitimate consideration for you? Yes, absolutely. They had the No. 1 offense in the nation. They had three receivers who had a thousand yards. TU was definitely one of my top schools. They were in the picture until they lost their offensive coordinator (Gus Malzahn). ... I went to camps at TU and saw some of their games, so I knew their guys and I knew the program pretty well. The TU program has completely changed over the last 10 years. I was playing a video game today as the Miami Dolphins, and they had (former Golden Hurricane star) Charles Clay on the kickoff team. When TU recruited me, they said I could get to the NFL from TU. The old TU -- maybe not. But the TU now? Yeah, they've got good players who can get to the NFL. Charles Clay is there. You didn't have a game during the weekend. Did you watch a lot of football? Actually, I didn't watch any. I played video games. I played Madden all weekend. You didn't watch Notre Dame-Michigan? No. Was it a good game? Great game. The Notre Dame and Michigan players were in throwback uniforms. Were they nice? If someone on Twitter says something about a good game, I might click over and check it out. But I don't watch much sports on TV. Union faces Broken Arrow this week. Are you aware that Broken Arrow had 720 total yards and won 65-26 at Odessa Permian? Wow. No, I didn't know. That's scary. ___ (c)2011 Tulsa World (Tulsa, Okla.) Visit Tulsa World (Tulsa, Okla.) at www.tulsaworld.com Distributed by MCT Information Services |
