[September 13, 2011] BRIEF: Volleyball clinic Saturday Tweet Sep 12, 2011 (The Sun - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Desert STARS Volleyball (DSV) Club will host a volleyball clinic for Yuma-area girls Saturday at the Yuma Lutheran School gym, 2555 S. Engler Ave. A clinic for 9- and 10-year-old girls will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.; 11- and 12-year-old girls, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and for 13- to 14-year-old girls from 2 to 4 p.m. The fee is $5 per girl for each clinic. Registration and liability forms must be completed before attendees are allowed to participate. The forms will be available the day of the clinic. The clinic is not open to high school volleyball players due to rules that no players can participate in club ball, clinic or not, during the season. DSV will host a clinic for them later. DSV is a private volleyball club that serves Maricopa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Ahwatukee and Yuma. Last year, DSV had three teams competing out of Yuma. The mission of the DSV in Yuma is to focus on the importance of school, teamwork, attitude, respect and sportsmanship (STARS).
