Naivasha Man Kills Wife, Commits SuicideSep 13, 2011 (Nairobi Star/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- A man in Naivasha stabbed his wife to death and committed suicide. Residents of Kihoto said the man had quarreled with his wife shortly before the murder. They said that the middle-aged man stabbed his wife several times before slitting his throat open when members of the public who had been attracted by the commotion bayed for his blood. The incident occurred in a friend's house where the couple had gone to visit and reconcile. According to Wambua Mkonza, the couple visited him and they had a cup of tea before he left to give them privacy to sort out their domestic row. "I left and just a few meters away, I heard screams coming from my house and on rushing back I found the house locked from inside," he said. A shaken Mkonza narrated how he peeped through the window and saw the man hacking his wife to death. Councillor Simon Wanyoike said the man killed himself out of fear when the crowd demanded that he gets out of the house. "When I arrived, he was still alive and locals started baying for his blood," he said. He condemned the incident saying that the couple who both work in flower farms had left behind a 3-year-old and a 7-months-old baby. It emerged that last week the middle-aged man tried to commit suicide over the relationship and was admitted in hospital for two days. Speaking on phone, Naivasha OCPD Ernest Oponyo said that the bodies had been taken to the local morgue and police had launched investigations into the incident. |
