SeaMicro Selected by Intel to Present Microserver Track at the Intel Developer Forum

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Sep 12, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM -- SeaMicro(TM), the Silicon Valley pioneer of low power server technology, today announced that it has been asked to present at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco on Tuesday, September 13 at 4:25 pm. The presentation, "Microserver: An Emerging Category for Data Centers," will focus on how SeaMicro's revolutionary server family is transforming customer data centers.

The SeaMicro's flagship SM10000-64HD(TM) server uses one-quarter the power and takes one-sixth the space of the best in class competitor.

The SM10000-64HD uses SeaMicro's patented fabric technology to integrate 384 dual core Intel(R) Atom(TM) processors into a 17.5 inch tall system that is the highest performance, lowest power, smallest form factor server ever built. The SM10000-64HD is x86, 64 bit and requires no changes to existing software so it benefits from 30 years of the x86 software ecosystem.

"We designed the SM10000(TM) family to transform the economics of the data center. Our customers told us that power and space were their primary concerns -- often consuming up to 75 percent of operating expense. We responded by building a server family that reduces power by consumption 75 percent and takes one-sixth the space," says Andrew Feldman, CEO, SeaMicro. "We are pleased to be sharing our experience, and those of our customers, with the Intel Developer Forum audience." In just over a year, SeaMicro has successfully deployed three breakthrough servers: the SM10000, for 32-bit environments, and the SM10000-64 and the SM10000-64HD, both for 64-bit deployments. All three systems employ Intel's Atom processor, typically used in mobile and tablet devices, to create a high performance, low power server ideal for tackling the most common data center applications. SeaMicro will be co-presenting with Brandon Draeger, Product Planning Manager of Dell Data Center Solutions, Dell, and Naveen Bohra, Product Marketing Engineer, Intel. SeaMicro recently announced a partnership agreement with Dell in which Dell will resell its systems.
