Data Center World Opens in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

AFCOM, the world's leading data center association, kicked off its Data Center World event today. Running through Wednesday, September 14 at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention, the educational conference and expo will delve into critical issues such as cloud computing, cyber security, facility cooling, energy management, disaster recovery and data storage challenges.

This year, the conference hosts presentations and case studies from leading private and government data centers such as GE Energy, Sandia National Laboratories, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Intel Corporation, CA Technologies (News - Alert), and Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Keynoting the event is president of Attitude LLC and former vice president of Internet Technology at IBM, John Patrick. While at IBM (News - Alert), Patrick helped execute the launch of the ThinkPad.

Additional highlights of the conference include AFCOM's Data Center Institute's upcoming release of the new research report "How to Stay in Business: A Data Center Institute Report on Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity." The report outlines the objectives, priorities and responsibilities data center managers-and organizations overall-need to put in place in order to properly safeguard their data and operations during cyber-attacks or natural disasters. Attendees will gain access to the Data Center Institute researchers behind the report during a panel discussion of the study.

"This year at Data Center World, we've taken a realistic look at the issues threatening the growth and management of data centers, and we've found ways to address those concerns in our breakout sessions through the educationl foresight and knowledge that our leading IT professionals will provide," said Jill Yaoz, CEO, AFCOM.

"Data Center World is more than an expo, it is the largest educational conference of its kind, providing data center and facilities management professionals, CIOs and CTOs the unique opportunity to share their challenges, experiences and best practices with their peers, and gain unmatched insight into the latest information on the most critical emerging technology and trends," Yaoz continued.

Data Center World is the largest global event of its kind. Named one of the 50 fastest growing tradeshows in the U.S., it is referred to as the premier networking and educational event by data center managers and industry professionals alike.
