Reform 'threat to free speech'


Sep 08, 2011 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- An article written by Nick Sinclair of Allens Arthur Robinson has questioned the need for a privacy tort in Australia. The paper asserts that telephone hacking is already punishable under the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act. The privacy tort was proposed after widespred privacy breaches by the British media. Sinclair warns that privacy laws in Australia may unfairly and unreasonably restrict the media.
