Cúram Software Partners with Canada's New Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences

HERNDON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

The Cúram Research Institute, the research arm of Cúram Software, today announced a partnership with the Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences in British Columbia, which will support the creation and dissemination of workplace health information with an international focus.

According to the World Health Organization, 386 million of the 610 million people in the world with disabilities are of working age (between 15 and 64). These staggering numbers emphasize the need for additional focus on the workplace health cycle. The Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences is a global educational and research centre established to create and disseminate new knowledge including applied research in the fields of workplace safety, health promotion, return to work, disability management, comprehensive rehabilitation and disability leadership studies.

"The social, human and economic costs associated with workplace disability are significant," said Wolfgang Zimmermann, Executive Director, National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR). "By partnering with organisations like the Cúram Research Institute, we can utilize our knowledge base and research to support employers, unions and injured or disabled employees in order to improve outcomes for all involved."

The Cúram Software social enterprise management solution encapsulates best practices to facilitate outcome management for workforce services and health and human services organisations. The creation of a new university focusing on global best practices in workplace health sciences aligns directly wih their strategy of improving outcomes and expanding the social and economic potential of individuals in society and will hopefully lead to more widespread creation and adoption of standards in the industry.

"We are stepping up our research and support for best practices across a range of social programs," said Martin Duggan, Vice President of Market Strategy, Cúram Software. "As the leading provider of IT solutions to workers' compensation and disability management organisations, the investment in the Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences was a natural fit. Both of our organisations share a strong commitment to a safer work environment and the integration of disabled workers into the workforce through advanced education and research knowledge."
