Take Girls to School - Kwale

Sep 05, 2011 (Nairobi Star/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- Two ministers have urged Kwale county residents to take their girls to school. Trade minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere and his Public Health counterpart Beth Mugo at the weekend said women in the county miss out on numerous job opportunities because they are not educated. "We must educate our children, especially the girls.

We must give our children equal opportunities in education," said Mwakwere.

Speaking in Mwakwere's Matuga constituency, they said women leaders in Kenya are the ones who can make the country move forward faster in terms of development. Mugo, who officially opened the first of 201 model health centres under the Economic Stimulus Programmed in Mkongani, said most dispensaries and health centres lack sufficient personnel. The Mkongani Model Health Centre, built at a cost of Sh16.2 million, and the other health centres in the county do not have enough nurses.
