BRIEF: City CEO in cancer email stormLONDON, Sep 05, 2011 (dpa - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Manchester City chief executive Garry Cook was at the centre of controversy on Monday after an email was seemingly sent from his account to the cancer-stricken mother of Nedum Onuoha. Dr Anthonia Onuoha had been negotiating a new deal for her son, a right-back at the club, when she received the email, seemingly meant for City director of football Brian Marwood, which made light of her illness. She has reported the matter to the Football Association . It is suggested that Cook was on holiday at the time the e-mail was sent and believes his account has been hacked into, although there has been no official comment. "When I opened up my e-mails and saw the message, it was the worst day of my life. Even worse than being diagnosed with cancer," Dr Onuoha told The Sun. "I don't understand how anyone could behave like that. I am critically ill." ___ (c)2011 Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH (Hamburg, Germany) Visit Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH (Hamburg, Germany) at www.dpa.de/English.82.0.html Distributed by MCT Information Services |
