Special-edition Mazdas are all equipped to a high specification [Derby Evening Telegraph (England)]

(Derby Evening Telegraph (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MAZDA has brought out special-edition Takuya versions of its most popular models.

The arrival of the cars in the Mazda2, Mazda3 and Mazda6 ranges follows the success of the Takuya special edition range introduced in mid-2010 for a limited period.

Five Takuya cars make up the latest line-up and they are all generously equipped with features normally only available in top-of- the-range derivatives.

They are available in Derby through the Mazda dealership of the Co-operative Motor Group at Sir Frank Whittle Road.

The new Takuya version of the Mazda2 is priced from Pounds 11,940 so costs just Pounds 110 more than the Tamura example yet comes with a host of extra features, including front fog lights, black sports trim, rear electric windows, automatic climate-control air- conditioning, Bluetooth kit and a rear bumper sports trim.

A 1.3-litre, 84ps engine ensures the car is a lively performer as well as being remarkably frugal. It accelerates to 62mph in 13.6 seconds, while recording 55.4mpg (combined cycle) and producing just 119g/km of CO2.

For drivers requiring a larger but equally agile hatchback there is the 105ps, 1.6-litre Mazda3 Takuya, costing Pounds 1,145 more than the TS.

Automatic dual-zone climate control air conditioning also comes as part of the deal, along with black sports interior trim, heated front sports seats, an integrated Bluetooth system, a six-disc CD changer and a leather covered steering wheel and gear knob.

Priced from Pounds 16,695, it means the Mazda3 Takuya represents excellent value for money while at the same time promising low running costs thanks to a combined fuel economy figure of 43.5mpg and low-for-class CO2 emissions of 149g/km.

There are three Takuya versions of the Mazda6: a 2.0-litre 155ps five-door hatchback, at Pounds 20,495, a 2.2D 163ps five-door at Pounds 21,675 and 2.2D 163ps Estate at Pounds 22,325.

For Pounds 1,050 more than the TS models, all three variants benefit from the fitment of 18-inch alloy wheels, a sports grille, front fog lights, privacy glass and dusk-sensing headlights. They also have an alloy pedal set, part leather upholstery, heated seats, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, dualzone automatic climate control air-conditioning, an integrated Bluetooth system and a six-disc CD changer. A choice of four metallic, mica or pearlescent paint colours is offered free-of-charge.
