Hacker linked to attack on Sacramento company arrestedSep 02, 2011 (The Sacramento Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- One of the hackers reportedly linked to the February attack on a Sacramento cybersecurity company was arrested today by Scotland Yard. Scotland Yard said it arrested two unnamed men at separate addresses in England. One of the two goes by the online nickname of "Kayla," who has been linked in numerous media reports to the attack on HBGary Inc. of Sacramento and its sister company, HBGary Federal. The arrests stem from a probe "into a series of serious computer intrusions and...attacks recently suffered by a number of multi-national companies, public institutions and government and law enforcement agencies in Great Britain and the United States," said Scotland Yard Detective Inspector Mark Raymond in a press release. In February, hackers broke into HBGary Federal's Website and stole passwords and usernames belonging to the Sacramento company, HBGary. They then grabbed tens of thousands of HBGary's emails and posted them on the Internet. Among other things, the emails revealed that HBGary Federal was developing a high-tech dirty tricks campaign that it was planning to pitch to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The incident was hugely embarrassing to the Sacramento company, but its owners told The Bee last month that business has rebounded sharply. The owners also said they hadn't been made aware of the scheme HBGary Federal was working on for the Chamber. The Sacramento company said it had no comment on the arrests.
