College Intern Launches Facebook Global Health in Action CampaignSilver Spring, Maryland, Aug 31, 2011 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Launched by a university student summer intern at Danya International, Jabari Fraser successfully initiated a new global health social media campaign on Facebook called: "Global Health in Action." The goal of the campaign is to engage college-age students in passionate discussion and involvement in global health issues. There are three primary areas of this initiative: Learn, Act, and Interact. On the Learn page, there are links to information and resources provided by The Global Fight and Global Health Council, an interactive Global Health Facts map by the Kaiser Family Foundation, and other resources. The Act page provides examples of ways fans can get involved and features a video by Jolkona about global giving where donors can see exactly where their money has gone and the positive impact it has made. Finally, young people are encouraged to Interact by sharing stories, opinions, knowledge, and ideas. The Campaign was launched on August 1st, with a contest where fans are encouraged to submit multimedia stories of personal experiences and engagement with global health issues. The contest has been extended to allow fans from any country to enter due to requests from international fans. The fans are given an opportunity to vote up to three times per day for their favorite stories, and the person whose submission receives the most votes will receive an iPad 2. Story submissions will end on September 30th, and the voting period will be between October 1st and October 6th. The winner will be announced October 7th on Facebook and at the 2011 8th Biennial U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Washington, DC.
