BRIEF: KHS Marching Band Preparing for season

KNOXVILLE, Aug 26, 2011 (Knoxville Journal-Express - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Knoxville High School Marching Band has begun its early morning rehearsals. In addition to performing at every home football game, the band has a number of its own competitions and performances to prepare for.

The first marching competition on the band's agenda is the Davis County Festival on Oct. 1. One week later, Oct. 8, the band will compete at Valleyfest in West Des Moines. The season will wrap Oct. 15 at the Iowa High School Music Association's contest. Site and location for the ISHMA contest are yet to be determined.

Those who attend any of the marching band's performances will hear instrumental renditions of Coldplay tunes "Clocks," "Lost," and "Vida La Vida." This year's drum major is Josh Burk. The band is under the direction of Ross Leeper and Geoff Shultz.
