BRIEF: Judge OKs purchase of Peek'n Peak by Erie's Nick ScottCLEVELAND, Aug 25, 2011 (Erie Times-News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A judge in U.S. Bankruptcy Court approved the sale of Peek'n Peak Resort and Spa earlier today at the federal courthouse here. The buyer is Erie developer Nick Scott Sr., whose Scott's Development Co. on Wednesday made a high bid to buy the Peak for $11.3 million. The closing will be Sept. 27. The resort's current owner, Kiebler Recreation LLC, located near Cleveland, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2010, listing debts of $28 million. Kiebler was unable to reorganize and pay its debts, forcing the sale. Scott's Development Co. was not a creditor. It will inherit none of Kiebler's debts. The Peak, a ski and golf center near Findley Lake, N.Y., remains open. Return to GoErie.com for updates. See Friday's Erie Times-News for more coverage. ___ (c)2011 Erie Times-News (Erie, Pa.)
