Liaison Customer xpedx Highlighted in Aberdeen Report on Product Master Data Management

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)--

Companies that invest in Master Data Management (MDM) or Product Information Management (PIM) systems dramatically improve the product lifecycle. They design and bring products to market faster, keep more accurate inventory, deliver on-time more frequently, and ultimately increase sales and profitability, according to a new research report from Aberdeen (News - Alert) Group. Entitled "From Design to Delivery: Enhancing the Product Lifecycle with Master Data," the report is available as a complimentary download from Liaison Technologies, a global provider of cloud-based integration and data management solutions.

Aberdeen conducted surveys at 634 organizations that have faced product data management problems; two-fifths of these had an MDM initiative in place. Aberdeen analyzed product development time, accurate product delivery and performance metrics, and focused on the benefits that high quality product information has on line-of-business operations and the bottom-line.

"Enterprise data management is a difficult task that has been made even more complicated by the global explosion of business data," said Nathaniel Rowe, Research Associate in the IT Security and ILM Practices, Aberdeen Group. "According to Aberdeen's research, new technologies and solutions designed to address this issue have been seeing high levels of market interest: 34 percent of surveyed organizations are planning to invest in some manner of Cloud, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) or Web-based data management solution in the nxt 12 to 24 months. These solutions will assist in maintaining high levels of data quality and accuracy, and they can also provide remote access to enterprise information for business partners and mobile employees."

With a number of legacy systems that had been accumulated through mergers and acquisitions, each with its own method of storing and defining product data, xpedx decided to avoid implementing an internal MDM system and instead invest in a cloud-based SaaS solution from Liaison Technologies.

"Before we invested in our cloud MDM system, we managed the same item multiple times," said Scott Dickerson, xpedx's National eBusiness Manager. "Liaison has helped us improve our item management processes, enabling us to link the product data in our legacy systems and reduce the amount of manual cross-referencing between systems."
