Migros Selects Fortinet

Aug 25, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Fortinet, a provider of network security and the unified threat management solutions, announced that Migros Group, a Swiss retail company, has deployed a cluster of FortiGate-3951B network security appliances to provide perimeter security for the entire group network.

"When we evaluated the ideal security appliance, we had several criteria in mind, including high speed, low latency throughput and a large number of 10 Gig ports. Furthermore, we required an appealing price performance ratio, prompt updates of anti-threat signatures and ease of use," said Philipp Jacky, telecommunications manager at Migros IT services, in a release.

"Fortinet's FortiGate appliances offer substantial benefits over point solutions as they consolidate a wide range of security functions and integrate custom high-speed ASICs, allowing us to sustainably improve our levels of security and performance while reducing administration and maintenance costs." "After evaluating solutions from several vendors, Migros is entrusting Fortinet to help protect its online shops and entire group network," said Patrice Perche, Senior Vice President of International Sales and Support at Fortinet. "This further demonstrates that our FortiGate multi-function appliances meet the high standards of performance and security that large enterprises demand, with the additional benefits of greater flexibility, scalability and lower total cost of ownership than traditional point security solutions." Migros opted for Fortinet's FortiGate solution for its broad protection capabilities, high throughput as well as ease of management and maintenance.

Migros selected Fortinet's FortiGate-3951B appliances to provide firewalling, IPS, antivirus and web filtering. The devices were deployed in a cluster mode in Migros' datacenter for high availability.

Fortinet's FortiGate-3951B is an integrated network security appliance, which integrates proprietary FortiASIC processors to deliver firewall performance of up to 120 Gbps.

Fortinet's device helps enable real-time performance and protection of the network as well as core applications such as SAP, Oracle and SQL. At Migros, the Fortinet appliance monitors and controls 145 SAP instances, 220 Oracle and 230 SQL databases, as well as data traffic for 325 Unix servers plus 4,239 physical and 405 virtual Windows servers.

Fortinet is a provider of network security appliances and unified threat management.
