Applied Discovery Partners with Equivio to Offer Predictive Tagging Technology

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Bellevue, Wash. (PRWEB) August 22, 2011 Applied Discovery, a worldwide electronic discovery leader offering multinational collection, early case assessment (ECA), processing, review, and production services for law firms, corporations, and government agencies, has partnered with software provider Equivio to offer clients state-of-the-art predictive tagging. Applied Discovery will offer the new technology alongside the newest update to Leverage™ Review.

Predictive tagging, powered by Equivio, expedites the review process beyond the capabilities of keyword or concept search. It instead applies statistical analysis on large data sets, reducing the amount of manual review time necessary.

Review teams code core sample sets of documents, while Equivio technology analyzes those tagging decisions along with the documents’ content. Predictive tagging then applies that human logic across the entire data set. The result: the most relevant documents are quickly grouped together for prioritized, contextual review. The integration with the Applied Discovery Leverage™ suite allows clients to use Equivio in a variety of ways, including to validate human tagging as a means of quality control, to parse large data into more easily reviewable issue sets to assign to the most knowledgeable reviewers, and to eliminate non-relevant data from manual review.

“Document review has long been the most expensive stage of e-discovery,” said Jon Resnick, Esq., Worldwide Vice President of Field Operations and Marketing for Applied Discovery. “Our clients are finding that by using Equivio technology alongside the review efficiencies provided by the Applied Discovery Leverage™ suite, they are reducing review costs for complex litigation, investigations, and HSR Second Requests by 30 to 50 percent while maintaining the same or higher levels of tagging accuracy.

The addition of predictive tagging further strengthens Applied Discovery’s recently updated Leverage™ Review, a key component of the Applied Discovery Leverage™ suite. The newest release of Leverage™ Review also includes an intuitive, easy-to-use modular search canvas, providing users with complete flexibility and control over the order in which search criteria can be structured. This modular approach lets users add new search criteria without starting over, allowing them to continually refine their queries and hone in on precisely targeted sets of documents. Another new feature allows users to concurrently run separate searches with differing search parameters. This allows nested searches or complex searches to be run all at once, instead of in sequence.

The new search functionalities are designed to meet head-on the challenges of searching, reviewing, and cataloging an ever-growing mountain of electronically stored data. By mitigating the time spent on searches for relevant documents, Leverage™ Review will further help e-discovery firms and corporate legal counsel cut costs and boost margins.

“Our newest release focuses on technology enhancements to help complex reviews progress more efficiently,” said Jamie Brigman, Director of Product Management at Applied Discovery. “Predictive tagging, modular and nested searching, the ability to batch and review in conversation thread order, even administrative functionality like allowing review leads to create batches that reviewers can self-assign all of the new features in Leverage™ 2.0 work together to increase review accuracy, decrease review time, and therefore substantially reduce costs.” The release also adds other time-saving updates like easier clipboarding, special character search, and search foldering, which sorts and catalogs queries in real time.
