BRIEF: Loughner hearing next week to be shown in Tucson courtroomAug 19, 2011 (The Arizona Daily Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Next week's hearing in the Jared Lee Loughner criminal case will take place in San Diego but have a video link to a Tucson courtroom, U.S. District Judge Larry A. Burns said in a Friday order. The hearing, on three pending motions, is set for 2 p.m. Friday in San Diego's federal court, where Loughner's defense and the judge will be. But there will be a video link to a courtroom in Tucson's U.S. District Court, 405 W. Congress Street, where prosecutors will be and the public may attend. Burns ordered the hearing on two defense motions and a prosecution motion. The defense is asking Burns to order federal prison doctors to stop forcing Loughner to take anti-psychotic medication, and to reconsider his order not to force prison officials to video-record all the efforts to restore Loughner to competency. Prosecutors are asking Burns to force the defense to comply with the way they think subpoenas should be issued.
