The election was held in conjunction with the 10(th) International Confederation of Principals world convention, which hosted 2,000 delegates from 41 countries. Lisa Vincent, Principal of Quinte Secondary School in the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, is President-Elect of the organization. Currently serving as Executive member representing the Americas, she will start her two-year term as ICP President on January 1, 2013. "It is such an honour to have been elected to lead this organization," said Lisa. "I'm particularly proud of the work the ICP has done to support and provide excellent professional development and networking opportunities for principals around the world." Vicki Shannon of Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Thunder Bay, part of the Lakehead District School Board, was elected as the Executive member for the Americas, representing North, South and Central America. "Having our voice on an international body will allow us to bring the views of Ontario principals to the world stage," Vicki noted. "This is such a great opportunity for us to share our expertise with the world, and to learn from our colleagues who lead schools around the globe." Both Lisa and Vicki are former Provincial Presidents of the Ontario Principals' Council (OPC). Lisa served in 2007-08 and Vicki's term ran from 2010-11. In addition to their roles on the OPC and the ICP, both are practising principals, working full-time in a school. "I am so proud of both Lisa and Vicki," said Naeem Siddiq, President of the Ontario Principals' Council. "Both of them exemplify the commitment, dedication and focus that principals and vice-principals in Ontario strive to provide for their students every day." The Ontario Principals' Council is the professional association representing more than 5,000 principals and vice-principals in Ontario's public elementary and secondary schools. Established in 1998, the OPC advocates on behalf of public education and provides professional supports to its Members.
