Called AUIR331x, devices are available for up to 30A continuous (90A peak) and are aimed at glow-plug controls, auxiliary positive temperature coefficient heaters, engine cooling fan drivers and interior fan controllers. "The current-sensing accuracy, particularly at low current, enables monitoring of load current in order to provide additional data to the microcontroller for diagnostic applications," said IR. "Typical examples include open-load detection, early warning of overload conditions or stall motor condition." There are two devices available at the top (30A/90A) rating. AUIR3313 has conventional timing and AUIR3316 is slower switching to help minimise EMC. As well as current-sense feedback, the family has over-temperature and over-current shutdown which operates repetitively under short-circuit conditions "according to the latest AEC Q100-012 standard", said IR. "In many applications, additional protection devices such as fuses can be eliminated." Over-current shutdown is resistor-programmable between 10 and 90A. Under reverse-battery conditions, an integrated protection circuit turns the main mosfet switch on, helping to relieve the intrinsic body diode to reduce heating. "Additional features such as ESD protection and an active clamp circuit guarantee safe operation and protection under harsh automotive operating conditions," claimed the firm. The chip is entirely +ve rail referenced and has no 0V or ground connection. Instead, current to drive the logic and n-type mosfet charge pump is sunk through the control input which is pulled to ground to activate the chip. There are two lesser version in the family - 3314 is rated for 6-58A shut down and 15 for 3-30A shut down. All come in TO-200 packages, or D2PAK if an S suffix is added. www.irf.com 17aug11powersolve.jpg Powersolve is offering the TEP 200WI range of high power DC-DC converter modules that provide up to 216W output power from a sealed, shielded metal case measuring just 61x48.2x12.7mm. Email: [email protected] 17aug11linear.jpg Linear Technology has introduced an inductorless supercapacitor charger with backup PowerPath controller for Li-ion or other low-voltage system rails in applications that require short term backup power. The device employs a low-noise dual mode (1x/2x) charge-pump architecture with constant input current to charge two supercapacitors in series from a 2.5V to 5.5V input supply to a programmable capacitor charge voltage between 2.5V and 5.3V. Charge current is resistor-programmable up to 150mA. The device's automatic cell balancing and voltage clamping features maintain equal voltages on both cells without requiring balancing resistors. This protects each supercapacitor from overvoltage damage that could otherwise be caused by mismatches in cell capacitance or leakage, while minimizing current drain on the capacitors. The LTC3226 has two modes of operation: normal and backup. Operating mode is determined by a programmable power fail (PFI) comparator. In normal mode (PFI high), power flows from VIN to VOUT through a low loss external FET ideal diode, and the charge pump stays on to top off the supercapacitor stack. In backup mode (PFI low), the charge pump is turned off and the internal LDO is turned on to supply the VOUT load current from the stored supercapacitor charge while the external ideal diode prevents reverse current flow into VIN. Up to 2A of backup current may be provided from the supercapacitor through the internal LDO. The LTC3226 operates with a very low 55µA quiescent current when the output voltage is in regulation. www.linear.com/product/LTC3226 17aug11analog.jpg Analog Devices has a 20V, 3A dual output DC-to-DC regulator with a conversion efficiency of greater than 93%, according to the supplier. TheADP2323 regulator has an input voltage supply range of 4.5V to 20V and an output range as low as 0.6V up to 18V at 1.5% voltage accuracy. The regulator is designed to be configured to synchronise in an evenly phase-shifted topology or for dual-output (2 x 3A) or single interleaved output (up to 6A). There is a tracking capability between supplies and includes precision-enable input, voltage tracking input and POWER-GOOD features that allow a simple and reliable start-up sequence. The ADP2323's switching frequency can be programmed between 250kHz to 1.2MHz or synchronised to an external clock to minimise interference in multi-rail applications. Both output channels run 180 degrees out of phase and can be synchronised to eliminate beat frequencies between regulators to minimise system noise. The regulator operates from input voltages of 4.5V to 20V and the output voltage can be as low as 0.6V. The two PWM channels can be configured to deliver dual 3A outputs or a parallel-to-single 6A output. Designed for high efficiency for multi-rail applications, the ADP2323 operates over the -40 °C to +125 °C junction temperature range and is available in a compact 5x5mm QFN-32 lead package. www.analog.com/ADP2323 Power-One has a modular AC-DC power supply family which offers up to 1500W of power in the form of a six-slot chassis (LPM615 model) or up to 900W of power in a four-slot chassis (LPM409 model).
