SFL Data Expands RemoteCollect, SelfCollect Services to Ensure Defensible Collection

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) August 18, 2011 SFL Data, the first provider of a fixed-price e-discovery managed service for corporations and law firms, has expanded the service offerings in its Forensics and Collection e-discovery phase:    •  The RemoteCollect™ service collects data from geographically dispersed custodians with forensically prepared hard drives. This minimizes work disruption to custodians, and eliminates the cost of onsite training and travel.

   •  The Defensible SelfCollect™ service equips a law firm or corporation’s IT staff or custodians to perform collections internally, with SFL Data providing supervision or training as needed. This reduces costs by eliminating the need for full-service data collection from an outside provider.

“The collection phase of e-discovery can be risky for law firms or corporations that aren’t prepared. Under- and over-collection are mistakes that can be avoided with the right plan. Likewise, issues such as metadata integrity, challenging data sources and insufficient audit trail documentation can easily impede an otherwise seamless e-discovery process,” said SFL Data VP of Forensics and Collections Andrew Crain. “That’s why SFL Data offers these easily customizable collection services – because no two cases or clients are the same.” During the RemoteCollect service, SFL Data remotely connects to the custodians’ computers to perform collection and complete all documentation. Recently, SFL Data achieved remote collection for 17 custodians across eight states, resulting in a final cost – including shipment and professional fees – of only $500 per custodian. This service uses freestanding data collection software tools and encryption protection for optimum risk mitigation and efficiency. Alternately, custodians may conduct collection using separate pre-configured software and hardware.

During the Defensible SelfCollect service, SFL Data consults with internal technology personnel to develop an appropriate procedure based on each matter’s variables. This custom procedure equips the in-house team to perform collection themselves. SFL Data also provides routine training to internal personnel, as well as providing onsite supervisions during the first few collections to ensure proper protocol is followed.

SFL Data is currently accepting meeting appointments for The International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) event from August 21-25 in Nashville, Tenn. In addition to RemoteCollect and Defensible SelfCollect services, SFL Data also offers full-service data collection. More information is available in the company’s ExpertBrief on Forensics and Data Collection.
