The filings show that the acquisition of the Shine media content production group by News generated cash worth $US124m for founder Elisabeth Murdoch, who is also the daughter of News executive chair Rupert Murdoch. A board appointment for the businesswoman has been postponed due to the public outcry over a telephone hacking scandal at News's UK newspapers division. A law suit has also been launched in the US by an institutional investor, alleging undue preferential treatment of Murdoch family members by News.
