Jan Haars Appointed to AVG Technologies' Supervisory BoardAMSTERDAM --(Business Wire)-- AVG Technologies, a leading provider of Internet security software, today announced that Mr. Jan Haars has been appointed to its Supervisory Board, effective August 10th, 2011. Mr. Haars is currently Associated partner of Catalyst, a corporate finance advisory firm, and his prior executive positions include Chief Financial Officer of Corio, a real estate investment company with assets of €7 billion from 2006-2010, and Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board of Management of TNT, a global mail, express and logistics company from 2002-2006. Mr. Haars, 59, is currently a non-executive Member of the Supervisory Board, and Chairman of the Audit Committee, of Delta Lloyd NV, and previous Member of the Supervisory Board of Ajax NV. He will be an independent, non-executive supervisory director of AVG and will serve as the Chairman of the Audit Committee. Mr. Haars has extensive experience in senior management at international companies. Prior to serving as Chief Financial Officer at TNT, where he led Reporting and Control, Treasury, Tax, Legal, M&A, Investor Relations and Internal Control functions, he was Group Treasurer for Unilever from 1997-2002. At Unilever, he was responsible for its worldwide treasury and corporate finance activities, working 50/50 in Rotterdam and London. He was part of the core team managing the US$ 24 billion Bestfoods acquisition, and the related financing of Unilever's gross debt of around EUR 25 billion. From 1994 - 1997 Mr. Haars served in the Financial Markets Division of Rabobank Nederland, including from 1995 as head of Investment Banking of Rabo International Utrecht, responsible for operations in fixed income, capital markets, money markets and derivatives, as well as Rabo International's Treasury Management. Prior to that, he had management roles at Royal Boskalis Westminster, Thyssen Bornemisza Group (TBG) - Treasurer Europe, and ABN Amro Bank. Mr. Haars has a Masters of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of Twente, and has also graduated from executive programs at Stanford University, INSEAD, IMD and the City University Business School.
