Murdoch's man in new hacking rowAug 11, 2011 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- An off-shoot of Australian-listed global media group News Corporation in Italy is being accused of industrial espionage. It is being alleged in the courts that NDS sought the services of a computer hacker to damage a rival business. The affair covers the period when Tom Mockridge, formerly head of the Foxtel pay TV provider in Australia that is part-owned by News, was CEO of Sky Italia. The latter contracted NDS after using the damage caused by the hacker as its justification to drop NDS competitor Nagra. Mockridge has been mentioned as the replacement as CEO at the News International business in the UK for Rebekah Brooks, following an unrelated telephone hacking scandal. Questions are being asked about corporate oversight standards at News.
