It is a good-looking laptop with finger-print resistant matte finish and is one of the thinnest 15-inch notebooks that we have reviewed. XPS 15z delivers the power you need inside one of the thinnest PCs. It's built from the finest materials, making it as elegant and durable outside as it is powerful inside. From its anodised aluminum case to its backlit chiclet keyboard, XPS 15z blends classic craftsmanship with contemporary design. The laptop has LAN, HDMI, two USB 3.0 slots, audio, mic input, card reader and eSATA slot, along with a unique battery indicator on the left side to keep you aware of the battery consumption. Shortcut keys for Wi-Fi, battery capacity, screen adjustment and music player controls are also available in it. The speaker, placed on both sides of the keyboard, provides brilliant sound quality. When it comes to keyboard and touchpad, XPS 15z has a backlit chiclet keyboard with well distinguished keys. It has 4 x 2.3-inch multi-touchpad, which is responsive to gestures like zoom and scroll, and is well supported by the big-sized mouse buttons. It weighs just 2.5 kg and so is light and easy to carry. XPS 15z gives you a healthy palm rest like other XPS notebooks, and has DVD/CD writer under it. Powered by Intel Core i7 processor, Dell XPS 15z features Windows 7, 64bit Home Premium and 8 GB RAM, a first in any Dell notebook. The HDD of 750 GB gives you immense storage space. The 15.6-inch screen offers full high definition display at 1920 x 1080p. In XPS 15z, Dell has introduced a new software called Dell Stage software, which conveys what matters the most on your desktop, for instance images, videos, music, games, internet browser, documents, and other shortcuts, to various locations. Stage software is an easy-to-use interface that keeps your favourite music, movies, photos and more within reach. Dell XPS models are known for their performance, and this one (XPS 15z) is no different. In the PC Mark Vantage test, it scored 8056 which is better than any other Dell XPS notebook. On 3D Mark 06, it scored an impressive 7382, shows it is a perfect gaming device. It has a fine battery that gives up to 5hours and 30 minutes of back-up. The XPS 15z notebook remained cool until it was used for was doing documentation and internet browsing, but on playing videos the hand resting space, below the keyboard, became warm. Nevertheless, with smart, intuitive features to match its craftsmanship, XPS 15z is a masterpiece of form and function.
