Symantec to Launch Mobile Phone Security Software

BEIJING, Aug 11, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- The global famous security software maker Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ: SYMC) announced on August 10 to launch mobile phone security software on global electronic markets, the Chinese version software is to appear on the market in this September.

A top executive of the company indicated that the security of mobile phone has become more and more important since increasing cellphone users tend to store important information on their mobile phones. After analyzing four major cellphone systems like iPhone, Android, Symbian and windows mobile 7, Symantec found that Android is the platform most likely to be invaded by virus. Since Android is an open platform, developers can upload any applications they developed at will, which also provides chances for hackers.

It is reported that Symantec has successively chosen China's Chengdu city as its China R&D base and one of its China security response centers. Meanwhile, a joint venture established by Symantec and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd will also be headquartered in the city.
