A recipient of the document determines whether the document is "official" by contacting a specified service to provide certain information from the document. If there is a match, the service notifies the recipient that the document is valid/official. Otherwise, the recipient is notified that the document is not valid." The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "An electronic organizer using a memory array that is directly addressed and non-volatile is disclosed. The memory array can be used to replace and emulate multiple memory types such as DRAM, SRAM, non-volatile RAM, FLASH memory, and a non-volatile memory card, for example. The memory array may be randomly accessed. Data stored in the memory array is retained in the absence of electrical power. One or more memory arrays may be used in the electronic organizer.
