ZTE reports 35m handsets shipped in first half of 2011


Aug 09, 2011 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- ZTE Corporation (Hong Kong:0763.HK) (Shenzhen:000063.SZ), a provider of telecoms equipment and network solutions, said today that the company shipped 60 million terminal products in the first half of 2011, including 35 million handsets.



Handset shipments from ZTE have grown by around 30% year-on-year, with a 400% increase in smartphone sales and 300% increase in US market growth.

Sales of ZTE smart terminals reached five million units in the first half of 2011, up 400% year-on-year.


ZTE said that it will continue efforts to grow its handset business and aims to launch more than 30 smart terminals during the remainder of 2011, including mid- to high-end smartphones such as the ZTE Skate, a smartphone based on Windows Phone 7 as well as TD-LTE dual-module and dual-waiting models.
