BRIEF: Copley High School open for counseling in wake of mass shooting

Aug 08, 2011 (The Akron Beacon Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A team of approximately 20 professionals, including counselors, psychologists and administrators will be in the Copley High School commons until 4 p.m. today to provide grief counseling for people affected by Sunday's mass shooting in Copley Township.

Superintendent Brian Poe said staff also would be at the school from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and by appointment Wednesday through Friday.

"We'll play it by ear at that point," Poe said Monday. "We'll gauge as we go along." The counseling is open to anyone in the community. It is not limited to people directly associated with the high school or school system.

"We're not going to turn anyone away," Poe said.

Copley High School is located at 3807 Ridgewood Road. The school's office phone number is 330-664-4822.
