Proskauer Awarded LEED® Gold Certification

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

The New York office of Proskauer has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED is USGBC's leading rating system for designing and constructing the world's greenest, most energy efficient and high performing buildings.

Proskauer's office is one of the largest LEED Gold-certified law firm offices in the U.S., and one of the few located in a LEED Gold-certified building. In January 2011, Proskauer moved into 400,000-plus square feet over 14 floors at Eleven Times Square, one of the newest, most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly office towers in New York City.

"A green strategy is the right thing to do, which is why we incorporated sustainability into every phase of the design of our new office," said Joseph M. Leccese, Chairman of Proskauer. "Sustainability has long been a hallmark of our firm and we're proud to receive this certification from USGBC."

Eleven Times Square incorporates a range of green features, including an air filtration system that optimizes indoor air quality and a glass curtain wall that affords numerous benefits in reducing heat gain, minimizing thermal loss and decreasing heating, cooling and utility costs.

"Proskauer's LEED certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership," said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair of USGBC. "The urgency of USGBC's mission has challenged the industry to move faster and reach further than ever before, and Proskauer serves as a prime example of just how much we can accomplish."

LEED Gold certification of Proskauer's New York office was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the facility itself and the broader community. These include: enhanced HVAC controllability to reduce energy consumption and increase personal comfort; occupancy sensors for lighting efficiency and the low-mercury nature of the systems; furniture that meets USGBC's standards for sustainable content; recycled content throughout the construction of the space; and the use of low VOC materials such as paints, coatings, furniture and seating, among many other features.
