BRIEF: A chance to be an underling on 'Boss'May 25, 2011 (Chicago Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- We don't know much about the new drama "Boss," starring Kelsey Grammer as the mayor of modern-day Chicago, but a casting call for extras offers a glimpse into what may air on TV this fall. Casting directors, in an ad placed on Craigslist, sought extras for several scenes to be filmed in coming weeks, including what seems to be a farm scene filming Wednesday in Aurora. Casting directors want: -- "Chubby or husky" children -- Toothless men -- Farmers -- People with pickup trucks -- "Great character faces" -- Children in wheelchairs -- Upscale men and women for "elegant restaurant scenes" -- Adults to play parents at a PTA meeting scene Andy Lipschultz, the show's publicist, wouldn't say much about the scenes in which the extras will be used, but he did say some of the shots probably will be used for the third of eight episodes that have been ordered. The drama is set to air in October on the cable network . Lipschultz said it isn't unusual for casting calls to be so specific. "This is the most ordinary ... casting call," he said. "They want a mix of people." The show stars Grammer as Mayor Tom Kane. Production began in Chicago on April 27, according to the network.
