BRIEF: Cubs' game vs. Mets still on despite rain threat

May 25, 2011 (Chicago Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Tonight's Cubs-Mets game at Wrigley Field is still a go, despite dire forecasts of persistent showers from 7 p.m. on.

After the day-long drenching in Chicago, the sun is out at Wrigley Field, the tarp is off the infield and the field is being mowed in preparation for the scheduled 7 p.m. start.

The Cubs should get the game off at the regular time, though there could be some delays if the forecasts come to fruition.

The Cubs don't face the Mets again this year at Wrigley, and with two home double-headers already scheduled because of postponements, they're likely to do anything possible to avoid a day-night doubleheader against New York on Thursday.
