[August 05, 2011] BRIEF: Downs to compete in nationals Tweet Jun 25, 2011 (The Sedalia Democrat - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Sydney Downs, an eighth-grader at Weaubleau Middle School, has earned a spot on the Missouri State National Junior High Rodeo Team, in which she will be competing as a barrel racer, in Gallup, N.M. at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo that begins today and runs through Saturday. The championship will be televised nationally and the competition is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays from Aug. 31 through Sept. 21 on RFD TV. Sydney is the daughter of Samuel Downs, of Fair Play, and the granddaughter of Betty J. Downs of Sedalia.
