BRIEF: Dining hall at College of Idaho in Caldwell getting $1.5 million upgradeAug 03, 2011 (The Idaho Statesman - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Eating on campus will be more pleasant for students at College of Idaho. The upgrades to Simplot Dining Hall include: -- Remodeling the serving area with new equipment, including a brick oven for making pizzas, calzones and other dishes. -- New energy-efficient lighting in the kitchen and the serving area. -- Heating and cooling upgrades will provide energy savings, a more comfortable work environment for staff, and lower maintenance time. -- Replacement of the kitchen and serving floor; upgrades to the plumbing systems; installation of washable ceiling tiles and walls. -- Repainting of Simplot's north dining hall, the main seating area for C of I students. -- Remodeling of the hall's Hendren Room, including a new floor, ceiling, paint and fixtures. The renovation work in the circa-1948 hall will be done in early August in time for the start of the new academic year. The project architect is Hummel; Kreizenbeck Construction has served as the general contractor.
