Cassidian Communications Awarded Contract by Sedgwick County for P25 Land Mobile Radio System

Frisco, Texas, Aug 02, 2011 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Today Cassidian Communications, an EADS North America company, announced that it has finalized an agreement with the County of Sedgwick, Kansas to provide a digital, trunked P25 Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system. The multi-year contract will supply the County with a complete 800 MHz turnkey radio communications solution including hardware, software, system engineering, installation and maintenance through 2026. The new 10-site, simulcast network will support all of the public safety agencies and communities within the County, including the city of Wichita. The agreement will also provide Sedgwick County with the Cassidian Communications emergency notification solution.

"Having successfully used the Cassidian Communications 9-1-1 call handling solution over the last 15 years, we are sure they are the right choice for our radio access needs," said Robert Lamkey, director of public safety for Sedgwick County. "The addition of the CORP25 network - along with their emergency notification solution - demonstrates exactly how confident we are in Cassidian Communications and their experience and expertise in public safety communications." 100% standards-compliant, the Cassidian Communications CORP25 radio solution is the industry's only true non-proprietary P25 solution. Completely open, the CORP25 radio solution enables full interoperability and supports true choice in both vendors and hardware - allowing agencies to select best-in-class components through competitive procurements and ultimately lowering the total cost of network ownership. Flexible and scalable, the IP-based CORP25 radio solution also enables simple and efficient network management, as well as cost-effective migration to future applications and services.

"We are honored to provide a state-of-the-art, mission-critical communications solution to the first responders and taxpayers of Sedgwick County," said Rich Cagle, vice president of sales, Cassidian Communications Land Mobile Radio. "We take great pride in the fact that our fully open, CORP25 network offers our customers the broadest range of choice in implementing their P25 public safety communications, as well as the best value in the industry. In these difficult economic times, we believe all manufacturers should work together to provide the best overall safety and economic value to the community, insuring that those who serve and protect us - policemen, firemen, and all emergency workers - remain in their jobs." Currently Sedgwick County utilizes the VESTA(R) emergency call processing system in its 9-1-1 center. Cassidian Communications call handling solutions are currently deployed in over 70% percent of public safety answering points (PSAP) in the United States. With the addition of the CORP25 network and the industry renowned, list- and map-based notification solutions - The Communicator!(R) NXT(TM) and GeoCast(R) Web(TM) - Sedgwick County is a true representative of the Cassidian Communications full-circle security and communications portfolio.
