BRIEF: Software giant SAP aims at top end of business outlook

FRANKFURT, Jul 27, 2011 (dpa - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The world's leading business software maker SAP said it aims to reach the top end of its revenue and profit forecasts for this year amid strong IT demand from companies.

Walldorf-based SAP expects its operating profit to be at the top end of its 4.45-billion-euro to 4.65-billion-euro (6.46 billion to 6.75 billion dollars) guidance range.

This was after predicting its closely watched software and software-related service revenue would come in at the high end of its forecast for growth of between 10 per cent and 14 per cent this year.

The company said second-quarter net profit rose 20 per cent to 588 million euros compared with 491 million euros a year earlier.

SAP's key license sales jumped 26 per cent to 802 million euros during the quarter under review.
