[July 22, 2011] BRIEF: British MP wants police to look into junior Murdoch testimony Tweet LONDON, Jul 22, 2011 (dpa - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- British Labour party deputy Tom Watson said Friday he planned to alert Scotland Yard to possibly inaccurate evidence given by James Murdoch in Tuesday's parliamentary hearing on the telephone hacking scandal which has rocked the country. Watson was commenting on remarks made by two former senior News of the World staff members that the younger Murdoch had been "mistaken" in evidence he gave to the parliamentary committee. "I think this is the most significant moment of two years of investigation," Watson told BBC about the remarks made about James Murdoch's testimony by former News of the World editor Colin Myler and former legal manager Tom Crone. Late Thursday, the two contradicted a possibly crucial comment in the hearings by Murdoch, who had told the committee he was "not aware" of an e-mail informing him that phone hacking at News of the World was more than just the work of one rogue reporter. Myler and Crone in a statement said that they had informed Murdoch about the e-mail.
