US Airways deploys Natural Language Understanding, Interactive Voice Response system from Nuance Communications


Jul 21, 2011 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) -- Provider of speech, imaging and customer interaction solutions Nuance Communications Inc (NASDAQ: NUAN) announced on Thursday that it has worked with US Airways (NYSE:LCC) to successfully launch the domestic airline industry's first Natural Language Understanding (NLU) Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.



Nuance said that its new automated system, Nuance On Demand, was deployed over a two-day period and offers the airline's customers a wide range of self-service capabilities such as flight information, upgrade status and Dividend Miles account details.
