Government Secondary Schools Jabi Graduates 98 Students

Jul 20, 2011 (Daily Trust/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- About 98 senior secondary school students of Government Secondary School (GSS) Jabi, Abuja, yesterday graduated during the school's graduation/first speech and prize giving day ceremony.

The school's Principal, Hajiya Habiba M. Kolo, recalled in her speech that the school began in 2008 with 285 students, 16 academic staff and 4 non- teaching staff.

She praised the FCT Education Board for providing the school with all necessary infrastructures to make students acquire qualitative education, adding that the school has adequate classrooms as well as standard science laboratories.

According to her, the school is privileged to be one of the very few model e-learning schools amongst secondary schools in the FCT with ICT equipment and is about to have an art digital hub, which will be donated by the British Council.

The principal congratulated the graduating students and advised them to continue to exhibit good characters to their families and elders.

Also speaking, the Director of Policy and Implementation, FCTA Education Secretariat, Mrs. Rosemary Umanah, represented by Deputy Director Catherine Chogudo, stressed the need for students to develop interest in acquiring computer knowledge.

Highlights of the occasion were the launching of the school's maiden magazine 'ECHOES' and presentation of prizes to the graduating students.
