Creative Thinkers to Be Awarded in Competition

Jul 18, 2011 (The Monitor/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- MultiChoice Africa and Eutelsat Communications have inaugurated competitions geared to inspire innovative thinking among secondary and high-school students, to create awareness on how science and technology can be applied to everyday life.

The competitions dubbed "DStv Eutelsat Star Awards," would also show the many ways that satellites already impact on the development of the African continent.

The President of MultiChoice Africa, Collins Khumalo, said last week, that competitions are open to 14 to 19-year-old students in 42 countries and shall see students invited to write an essay or design a poster on satellite technology.

Contestants will show how technology can assist further development of their communities, country or the African continent. The overall winner will be invited to see a live rocket launch and to Eutelsat's headquarters in France.
