BRIEF: Hard-to-recycle collection is July 16 in Beechview

Jul 10, 2011 (The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A "hard to recycle" collection will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 16 at Brashear High School in Beechview.

The collection for such items such as TVs, e-waste, cell phones, printers and toner cartridges and compact fluorescent bulbs will be in the parking lot of the school at 590 Crane Ave.

Most items are accepted for free, but there are fees for tires, batteries and some e-waste items.

The collection is part of the Zero Waste Pittsburgh campaign of the privately run Pennsylvania Resources Council, the Allegheny County Health Department, the Colcom Foundation, eLoop LLC and others.

Also at the pickup, new and gently used tote bags will be collected to give food pantry clients a way of transporting their goods home.

Details and collection fees: 412-488-7490, ext. 236.
