BRIEF: Police seek man who robs Avon Park bank


Jul 15, 2011 (Highlands Today - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Updated: 31 min. ago AVON PARK -- A man robbed the Bank of America at 851 U.S. 27 in Avon Park Friday morning, police said.

Police responded to the bank at 10:05 a.m. after the suspect walked into the bank, went to a teller and "inferred that he had a weapon in his possession and demanded" money, according to a press release by police Commander Jason Lister, the city's acting police chief.

The robber ran out the bank after the teller "complied with his demands," Lister wrote.

The robber was described as a thin-to-medium-build white man who is 35 to 40 years old and 5-feet-8-inches tall. The man wore a camouflage baseball cap, a white T-shirt and blue denim jeans, witnesses reported.


No one was hurt during the robbery, Lister added.
