[July 15, 2011] BRIEF: Jesse Jackson a witness in Williams-Bolar clemency hearing Tweet AKRON, Jul 15, 2011 (The Akron Beacon Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson is among witnesses scheduled to testify next week on behalf of Kelley Williams-Bolar at her clemency hearing in Columbus, state prison officials said Thursday. Williams-Bolar, 40, was convicted early this year in a Summit County jury trial of two felony counts for tampering with records to enroll her two daughters in the Copley-Fairlawn school district using her father's address. As a first-time offender, she was sentenced to 10 days in the county jail, two years of probation and 80 hours of community service. Carlo LoParo, director of communications for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, confirmed that Jackson is on the witness list for Williams-Bolar's defense attorney. David Singleton, executive director of the Ohio Justice and Policy Center, will represent Williams-Bolar at the clemency hearing, scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Ohio Parole Board's central office in Columbus. In February, after only days in office, Gov. John Kasich ordered the Parole Board to review Williams-Bolar's case to determine if her conviction should stand. A spokesman for Jackson's civil rights organization, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition in Chicago, did not return phone messages seeking comment.
