Wild about HarryJul 14, 2011 (The State - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- VIDEO: Behind-the-scenes look at the Harry Potter Lookalike photo shoot at bottom of story The final installment of the "Harry Potter" films opens at midnight. "I'm trying not to think about that now," said 16-year-old Micaela Wendell, one of more than a dozen who came to The State on Tuesday dressed as their favorite Potter character for a photo shoot. Wendell, who came to The State with her mom and 13-year-old costumed sister Christine, is going to a 12:01 a.m. showing of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2." Is she dressing up for the movie? Duh. "It's the last movie so you have to live it up," said Wendell, who will arrive about an hour early to socialize. Ryan McCormick, 16, is also going to a midnight screening. His tickets are for 12:10 a.m. and one could not determine if he was disappointed about the "late" start time as he firmly shook this reporter's hand. To better look like Harry, Braceland Degenhart, 8, had colored hairspray put into his hair to cover up his naturally red mane. Like several participants, Eli Cumbee, 8, came dressed like Harry but he had a wand with a lit tip. Cumbee's mother, Miriam, said Eli wears his Harry costume a lot. "We go to the mall, he'll want to dress up in his costume," she said. "That's just how he expresses himself." Cool mom. Kaitlyn Martin, 9, brought the coolest prop -- a homemade copy of the Quibbler. Martin, dressed as Luna Lovegood with striped socks and high-top sneakers, looked like the "Harry Potter" version of Punky Brewster. If Harry were really smart, he'd fall for her.
