Avnet Technology Solutions Appoints Serrano Vice President of Finance– July 12, 2011 -- Avnet Technology Solutions, the IT solutions distribution leader and operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today named Cookie Serrano as vice president of finance, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas. Serrano joins Avnet with more than 20 years of experience in the finance and accounting fields, having worked for companies such as Goodrich Corp., Motorola and U.S. Foodservice Corp. in various financial management positions. Serrano reports to Rusty Murdaugh, group finance officer, Avnet Technology Solutions, Global. As vice president of finance, Serrano will manage the finance teams that support Avnet Technology Solutions in the U.S. and Canada. Her leadership skills and financial experience will be applied to improving business practices and managing specific areas of accounting and finance such as planning and forecasting, as well as internal controls and compliance. "Cookie has a diverse background and vast knowledge in the financial field, having worked in several industries," said Murdaugh. "That diverse background, coupled with her leadership skills, will be crucial to the success of our company in the ever-changing technology market." Prior to joining Avnet, Serrano served at Goodrich Corp., a global supplier of systems and services to the aerospace and defense industries. As vice president of finance, she was a key partner to operations, engineering and support teams in driving improved business performance. She was also with Motorola for more than 10 years serving in various financial roles. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and an MBA from Arizona State University.
