Baidu and WASU Team Up to Bring Internet to TV Sets (BIDU)Jul 06, 2011 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- Baidu (NASDAQ: BIDU), China's largest search engine has teamed up with digital television network operator WASU Digital Media Group to initiate an Internet search service on television sets. This is the recent action in Baidu's drive to expand its business beyond desktops to terminals like smartphones and tablets. "Internet services have a huge potential for development in the TV sector with our collaboration in technology and product," said Vice President Li Xuedong of WASU. As part of the contract, Baidu's search service and products, consisting Baidu Image, Baidu Map and Baidu Music Box, that will be pre-installed in set-top boxes operated by WASU's network in more than 100 cities. Users will be capable to use their TV set to search the Internet Baidu has a potential upside of 15.1% based on a current price of $145.06 and an average consensus analyst price target of $166.90. Baidu is currently above its 50-day moving average (MA) of $133.70 and above its 200-day of $118.91. In the last five trading sessions, the 50-day MA has remained constant while the 200-day MA has risen 0.5%. Baidu, Inc. operates an Internet search engine.
