ViewSonic launches DisplayLink-certified MultiClient cloud computing solution

Jul 06, 2011 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- DisplayLink and ViewSonic, a provider of computing, consumer electronics and communications solutions, have announced that ViewSonic has launched its DisplayLink-certified MultiClient cloud computing solution announced in March 2011 in the US, South America and Asia-Pacific markets.

Connectivity in this MultiClient cloud computing solution is enabled by the new ViewSonic VMA20 LAN Adapter, which capitalizes on virtual graphics with the DL-125 chip from DisplayLink. Running with Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 operating system on ViewSonic's VMS700 server, ViewSonic MultiClient gives users in education markets a very cost-efficient Windows computing environment. Allowing up to 14 users per server, the solution offers security along with fast, easy setup in the field.

The ViewSonic MultiClient solution has these key features: Multiple computing access, with up to 14 clients and one host server; Shared Windows computing for education and other cost-conscious markets; Easy setup configuration out of the box; Drastically reduces the total cost of ownership, the company added.

The new VMS700 server, delivered with MultiClient, is an i3/Xeon-based system. The MultiClient VMA20 LAN Adapter is DisplayLink-based and supports 1280 x 1024 resolution on a standard aspect ratio screen, and up to 1440 x 900 on a wide screen.

"ViewSonic has leveraged DisplayLink technology very effectively to deliver Windows-based shared computing at an extremely competitive price per hardware seat," said Dennis Crespo, DisplayLink executive vice president of marketing and business development.

"DisplayLink virtual graphics and LAN connectivity enabled ViewSonic to streamline system components in the MultiClient cloud computing solution," said Jeff Volpe, President of ViewSonic Americas. "The result is a whole new level of value in shared computing for educators, fully LAN connected for the ultimate in functionality and usability." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
