VHA selects VitalWare's ScoreCard application

Jul 05, 2011 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- VHA Inc. has announced an agreement with VitalWare to offer its ScoreCard application to help member organizations prepare for the health care industry's important transition to ICD-10 that becomes effective October 1, 2013 and lessen the possibility of reduced reimbursements from non-complaint systems.

Available for VHA members, the VitalWare ScoreCard is a custom tool that helps ensure health care organizations are informed about their vendors' ICD-10 readiness and holds their vendors accountable for meeting the required changeover from ICD-9 to ICD-10 codes.

Featuring an electronic dashboard, ScoreCard displays a vendor readiness progress report and provides ongoing alerts to inform an organization's ICD-10 task force of vendor compliance to help ensure business continuity during and after the ICD-10 transition, said VHA.

"We are committed to providing our members with the resources they need to help them prepare for the ICD-10 deadline and identify systems that may be at risk due to the conversion," said Amy Anthony, senior vice president, VHA.

"VHA selected VitalWare's ScoreCard because it helps our members learn which systems might be vulnerable, giving them sufficient time to plan and avoid the possibility of disputed or rejected claims that could negatively affect their reimbursements." With ScoreCard, VHA members can identify which vendor products measurably impact ICD-10 planning based on their functionality and extent of use, determine which products have 'high impact' but 'low readiness' helping identify and avoid potential problems, and receive automatic alerts when vendor/product milestones, tasks or due dates have been completed, or are at risk.

VitalWare provides ongoing support by communicating with vendors and holding them accountable through 2013, providing updates to the ScoreCard to help track vendor progress and overall readiness, sending alerts when vendors update products -- or when milestones or due dates slip.
